Coronavirus and your Children

Dear Back to Basics Families,
Hello!
We have all done a great job keeping our children healthy during this pandemic! It is something we can all be proud of.
With masks coming off, we have seen a marked increase in illnesses among children with our "usual" viruses - common colds, stomach bugs, RSV, and Influenza. Our viruses are very confused and are showing up at all different, off season, times. We need to continue to be aware of infectious diseases (including COVID) and practice good hygiene.
In our office, all patients are still required to wear a mask since we are a medical facility. Sick patients are being asked to enter through the back door and remain in the car until being asked to enter the building. We have been using our curbside check-in which has been working well.
We have been testing children in the office with the Rapid COVID Antigen test, the PCR COVID/FLU A&B/RSV, and in some cases the Rapid FLU/COVID Antigen test. We have been amazed at the accuracy in our PCR test which is the same test found at many hospitals and immediate care facilities. The test used for your child will be discussed at the visit.
COVID vaccines are being offered in our office for all patients 5 years and up. We recently had the CDC to our office to monitor our COVID vaccine inventory, inspect our facility, and review our protocols. We PASSED!
